Similar to the Ultimate Fighting Championship, which is popular in Japan as well as the United States, K-1 USA is a circuit of mixed martial arts matches with only basic, general rules, allowing a variety of fighters with very different styles to compete against one another. This fully 3D fighting game is based directly on the K-1 competitions and features the martial arts styles of more than 20 real-life fighters. In addition to holding exclusive rights to produce games based on the competition, Konami is a major sponsor of the K-1 USA circuit.
