ToCA Championship Racing (Sony PlayStation 1, 1998)

Product Specs
Description
Get ready to take on another season of high-speed technical racing with 3DO and Codemaster's TOCA Championship Racing. Armchair drivers will be manning the four-door Super Tourer in a family vehicle-like frame. Emulating actual FIA Super Touring rules, the individual cars feature four-wheel drive and a two-liter engine with anywhere between 2000cc and 8500 revs. Eight car manufacturers have lent their actual designs to the production of this title including Ford's Mondeo, Nissan's Primera, and Audi's A4. TOCA Championship Racing features a variety of gameplay options including Single Races, Championship Races, and the Time Trial. Played with either one or two-players (via horizontal split-screen), the Single Race is simply extra practice to get familiar with track layouts or sharing the road with your opponents. Time Trial allows the speed freaks to compete with their own fastest laps and track times. The Championship mode consists of an entire 24-race season at nine different track locations. In order to advance to the next round, players are required to meet certain point quota. For example, rounds one and two at Donington Park Grand Prix require at least 20 points for progression; fail to reach this number and you'll be left behind in the dust! After every six races, cups are awarded based on your season performance. If you're good enough, you'll then be able to unlock secret cheat codes for the game! Among the nine tracks represented are the realistically designed Silverstone International, Oulton Park Fosters, Snetterton, and Brands Hatch Indy. Each track is laid out turn-by-turn in conjunction with its real-life counterpart. Additionally, TOCA Championship Racing features weather effects (sunny, cloudy, stormy, foggy), different camera views, and specialty controller support including the neGcon, MadCatz Wheel, and the Dual Shock Analog Controller.
