NFL Full Contact (Sony PlayStation 1, 1996)
Product Specs
Description
Konami's first football game on PlayStation features over 1,500 motion-captured players with ratings based on the 1995 season, 30 NFL teams, and moves that include high steps, speed bursts, and spins. Four camera angles let you view the action from the sidelines, high above the stadium, diagonally, or directly behind the activated player. The camera can also be manually zoomed to put you closer to the action. Play one game against the computer or a friend, or go directly to the playoffs (there is no season mode in NFL Full Contact). The opponents you'll face during the playoffs are randomly determined. Other key features include sprite-based graphics; a PA announcer; four audibles on both defense and offense; and an instant replay system that gives you complete control over the footage. Offense involves selecting one of 80 plays and carrying it out from a view behind the quarterback. Passing plays display symbols over your wideouts, allowing you to throw toward a specific receiver simply by pressing the corresponding button. Defense is played from a perspective behind your players on the bottom half of the screen, and the 80 plays are based on those used by actual teams for the 1995 season. A password system lets you resume playoff games in your quest to reach the Super Bowl.
