For the first time in the Madden series an NFL license has been acquired, allowing you to play as real teams from the 1993-94 season. In total, there are 28 NFL teams, 38 Super Bowl teams since 1966, twelve All-Time Franchises since 1950 and two All-Madden teams. While the game continues to use the vertical playing perspective with three passing windows, players are now much larger than before and have new running and tackling animations. Rounding out the features are 72 new plays that can be flipped in the opposite direction, reverse-angle instant replay, audibles that can be customized at any time, a bluff mode to disguise plays, and support for up to four players with the 4-Way Play adaptor. This 16-Meg cartridge also includes a battery to save your progress during the season.
