As Ensign Munroe, a member of the Hazard Team aboard the U.S.S. Voyager, players must engage enemy units in first-person combat and attempt to unravel the mystery behind the predicament the ship and its crew find themselves in. Having engaged and bested a hostile alien vessel in combat, the crew find themselves inexplicably transported to a Bermuda Triangle of sorts -- a graveyard of ships and home to rogue alien races. As a generic member of the ship's crew (player's can choose to play as a male or female), you'll embark on 30 levels of quests, both onboard the labyrinthine ship and on uncharted alien planets. Particular missions require that certain crew members be kept alive in order to perform a task vital to the mission's success. Yet others are more straightforward, requiring the acquisition of keys to unlock certain areas and the destruction of any hostile intruders. Cut-scenes and scripted events reveal new aspects of the plot as the player progresses through the title. Weapon selection runs the gamut from the all-too-familiar phaser to outlandish alien bio-weapons. Familiar characters from the television series, such as Captain Janeway, appear in the game, and are voiced by the actors from the show itself. Enemies from the series, including the Borg, Hirogen, and Scavengers, also make appearances in the game. A port of the PC title, the PlayStation 2 version also includes a multiplayer mode with support for up to four players. Players can take part in Deathmatch-style bouts across 33 different maps, and include a handful of customization options.
