Description
Battlezone: Rise of the Black Dogs is an action-strategy game based on Activision's PC title from 1998, which in turn is loosely based on the Battlezone coin-op. While the original Battlezone featured state-of-the-art vector graphics and a unique periscope interface that simulated a view from inside your tank, the updated series offers 3D polygonal graphics and the ability to guide an entire squad. Players can opt to control the action in the "Pilot" mode or lead their troops to victory in the "Commander" mode. The backdrop is an alien war raging deep in space that no one knows about aside from those involved. The American government wants to keep it that way. They believe that alien forces are not something that should be revealed to the general public. If the covert squad members known as the "Black Dogs" have their wish, this will come to an end. The elite fighting group has made it their mission to make it back to Earth and reveal the truth. They will meet resistance. Rise of the Black Dogs spans 35 missions across three campaigns: American, Soviet, and "Black Dogs." In both play modes, the game is viewed from inside the tank as you go about your missions in one of two ways: with guns blazing or by building a base and issuing commands. Other features include an optional 640x480 mode (requiring an Expansion Pak accessory), vibration feedback with the Rumble Pak, and four-player simultaneous support.
