ECW: Hardcore Revolution marks the first time the wrestling organization has been featured in a video game. Play as or against over 40 ECW stars, including Rob Van Dam, Sabu, Tommy Dreamer, Raven, Mike Awesome, and Francine. The hardcore nature of the in-ring battles is backed with special modes like barbed-wire matches and the ability to use objects like chairs. More than 20 match types include 3-Way Dance, Death Match, Tornado, Lumberjack, and Battle Royal. Players can even edit wrestlers and create custom Pay-Per-View events. The ECW atmosphere is further enhanced with pre-match taunts and dramatic entrances complete with crowd chants and theme songs. The rowdy audience will also "critique" your performance with cheers or catcalls.
