CyberTiger (Nintendo Game Boy Color, 2000)

Product Specs
Description
CyberTiger, the first golf game featuring Tiger Woods on the color handheld, is targeted toward an audience that prefers a fast paced game, absent of the simulation aspects found in more traditional takes on the sport. Three golf courses are available, Hawaii, Grand Canyon, and Mt. Lava, and you can choose one of eight golfers: child and adult versions of Carmen, Inga, Chip, or Tiger. Several different play options are available, including Rapid Fire, a quick trip around the golf course for one or two players; regular speed single-player mode; Career Mode, which allows single players to compete and save their progress on the CyberTiger Tour; and Link Golf, which is a head-to-head battle against a friend using a link cable. Six options can be customized for the most enjoyable experience. Turning the mulligan option on gives one "do-over" per hole. Similarly, turning the gimmies option on allows for "tap-ins" on the greens. Other options include turning on and off sound effects and music, viewing the game credits, and finally activating or deactivating Power-Ups. Power-Ups can be obtained when users land their shots on certain areas of the course, and can be used to gain an advantage during the round. Power-Ups come in three categories: Power-Up Balls, Attack Power-Ups, and Club Power-Up. The first category includes golf balls that can make shots straighter or go directly at the pin. Attack Power-Ups are only available in Rapid Fire and Link modes and can cause an opponent to hit a poor shot or lose his or her golf ball. Finally, attaining a Club Power-Up increases the distance and accuracy of a shot. Power-Ups can be used at any time and are accessible from the in-game menu. Within the game, users can adjust direction, club selection, and line-up putts using the directional pad and the A button. Swinging the club involves pressing the A button three times: the first activates the backswing on the swing meter, the second starts the downswing, and the third makes contact with the ball, sending it flying through the air.
