Players take on the role of Lara Croft, an explorer who is always up for any adventure that involves finding rare artifacts. This time Lara has been hired to locate and retrieve the three pieces of the Scion. From a third-person perspective players will explore 15 levels spread out over four areas of the world: Peru, Greece, Egypt, and Atlantis. Each level features secrets, puzzles, and enemies to combat. Lara begins the game with two pistols but throughout the adventure many new weapons can be found, such as a shotgun and an uzi. Weapons have limited ammunition so players must always be on the lookout for more. At the end of every level Tomb Raider displays how long it took to complete and the number of secrets found.
