Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo (Sega Saturn, 1997)

Product Specs
Description
Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo is a puzzle game that combines the mental toughness of Tetris with the fighting mechanics of Capcom's own Street Fighter (not to mention the characters). Instead of simply placing shapes in such a way as to abolish a line of blocks, Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo features different colored gems falling at a fast rate and sometimes combining to form bigger gems, called Power Gems. The objective is to get rid of the gems by having a Crash Gem (a round orb) strike a same colored gem or Power Gem. Once it does so, the gems will fall over to your opponent's side in a pattern determined by the character you are using. Players must not only contend with the different colored gems falling on their side but those Counter Gems from their opponent. Once a character's gems have all been vanquished, that player wins. The game features other innovations such as 'GOODIES,' a mode that gives you prizes (animation, music, hidden charcters) for defeating an opponent. Likewise, the characters themselves are all super deformed versions of famous fighters from Capcom's Street Fighter and Dark Stalkers video games.
