Based on the U.S. Army's popular freeware recruiting tool, this console version of America's Army is designed to offer the authentic action and realistic role-playing experience of earlier America's Army games, along with a non-lineal single-player campaign and multiplayer support for as many as 16 through an online connection. Players begin as any other recruit, in basic training, then can move through specialist training on their way to becoming an Army Ranger. The role-playing portions of America's Army are designed to demonstrate the challenge, pleasure, and honor of life as a soldier. The Operations mode of play is more action-oriented, as players take the first-person roles of skilled soldiers in the field to accomplish a variety of missions.
