Top Gear (Super Nintendo Entertainment System, 1992)

Product Specs
Description
Despite substandard graphics and uninspired track design, Top Gear is an enjoyably challenging off-road (on again) racer that fans of Sega's Out Run will appreciate. Players select one of four Nitro-enhanced cars -- each rated according to maximum speed, acceleration speed, tire grip, and fuel consumption. In addition to racing for speed, players must concern themselves with avoiding road obstacles and pulling over to refuel at pit stops. The object is to drive on 32 tracks in eight different countries. Whether played alone or with a friend, the game offers a split-screen (top and bottom) viewpoint, making for smaller individual displays. The greatness of the game lies in its F-Zero-like speed and incredibly high frame rate. This is one of the fastest, smoothest 16-bit racers on the market. Realistic sound effects and high-octane music add to the fun.
