In this sequel to Konami's 8-bit classic Double Dribble, Double Dribble: The Playoff Edition brings five-on-five basketball to the Genesis with an emphasis on arcade play. Like the original Double Dribble, the featured players and teams are fictitious. A total of 16 teams are available for three different modes of play: Playoff, Exhibition and Multi-Play. Each team consists of 12 players individually rated in shooting, ball-handling, stealing, speed, power, and stamina. Dunks are important part of the action, and players can perform the following moves while in the air: windmill slams, gorilla and tomahawk jams, reverses, one-handed dunks, and hanging on the rim. Up to eight can play at once using Sega's Team Player adaptor, and a password system is used to resume semifinals during the Playoff mode.
