Description
Humanity is in peril and it's up to you to save it in Legendary Wings, a shooter combining overhead and side scrolling action. Long ago, Ares, god of war, bestowed a set of magical wings on two young soldiers and bid them to protect the human race. Now, a powerful devil has appeared that is bent on all-out destruction. Donning your wings and laser gun, you must fight your way through five areas for the final showdown with the devil himself. Each area consists of two stages: an overhead and a side-scrolling level. Additionally, occasional whirlpools in the overhead levels can send you to a bonus side-scrolling round that is either filled with items or powerful enemies. Bonus rounds are important, as they are the only place to find hearts. These allow you to continue after all your lives have been exhausted. Power-up capsules are also available throughout the game to increase your firepower. Each one you collect (up to four) gives you an upgraded weapon. Yet each time you are hit by enemy fire, your weapon is downgraded, and if you are hit without any weapon upgrades, you are killed outright. Last but not least, the most powerful weapon in the game has the advantage of allowing you to absorb up to three enemy shots.
