Description

A handheld version of the 1985 Japanese arcade game, Penguin Wars puts you in control of a Penguin, Cow, Rabbit, Bat, or Rat. Each character has varying skills. For example: the Cow is strong but slow, and the Penguin is average in all areas. Whichever animal you choose, the computer controls the other four, which are on the opposite side of the screen. Your job is to roll the most out of ten balls to the other side of the play field within a 60-second time period. In the meantime, the computer-controlled characters are rolling the balls right back at you. During the game, a slime monster, a roving ball, a spinning disk, and a crazy dog will appear on the screen, disrupting the balls' progress across the table in various ways. If there are five balls on each side of the screen when the time runs out, the game is a draw. If you manage to get all ten balls on the other side of the table after 60 seconds, it is a perfect game. Two perfect games (out of a three match set) will win you a bonus round, in which you roll as many balls as you can to the other side of the screen within 30 seconds. If you've got two Game Boys, two copies of the game, and a Video Link cable, up to ten players can compete in a Penguin Wars tournament.
