The vintage 1990 Gargoyle's Quest video game for the Nintendo Game Boy is a spin-off of the popular Ghosts 'N Goblins franchise. It puts players in the role of Red Devil, the enemy gargoyle from the original game in the series. Those who played the original will find the running, jumping, projectile-emitting, creature-killing action very similar. However, this version adds a number of roleplaying elements to the formula including leveling up, conversing with townspeople, and collecting mystical items. The main character also has some abilities that previous characters lacked, including flying and climbing. The graphics of this game are clean and detailed. As well as side-scrolling, there are also some overhead-view scenes to mix things up.
