Timed to coincide with the 2007 Rugby World Cup, EA Sports returns to the pitch and lets armchair ruggers thumb-scrum to their heart's content in Rugby 08. Gamers can control any one of 20 national teams and scrum, ruck, and maul their way from qualification all the way through the championship final in a quest to win rugby's ultimate prize, the Webb Ellis Cup. New to Rugby 08 are authentic defensive formations that allow players to adjust the defense on-the-fly and a layered pick-up-and-play control system for set pieces and drop kicks. Enhanced push and rotation controls allow for greater command in scrums and rucks, a simplified control scheme helps novices make lineout throw-ins, and a new kicking meter has been added for scoring on key penalties and conversions. Rugby 08 lets gamers take control of Rugby's biggest international superstars like New Zealand's Richie McCaw, England's Mark Cueto, the Aussie Stirling Mortlock, and American sensation Brian Willey. The new World Cup Challenge mode also gives players the ability to re-create, or rewrite, the biggest moments in World Cup history.
