Description
Join the search for Atlantis in Disney's Atlantis: The Lost Empire for Game Boy Color. Based on Disney's animated film of the same name, this platform game plays out across 11 levels with five movie characters -- Milo, Vinny, Mole, Audrey, and Princess Kida -- available for play. Players will need to combine the characters' special abilities and skills in order to complete all levels. Making use of deductive reasoning and teamwork, players will discover the Lost Civilization of Atlantis. Gameplay begins in Whitmore's Mansion and continues through ten hazard-filled levels, including the Submarine Level, the Volcano Level, the Secret Swim, and the Balloon Level. Milo, Mole, Vinny, and Audrey are the key characters through the first seven levels, after which Princess Kida can be used. During the expedition, players can switch characters by locating the radio communicator icon and choosing from the other characters in range. Milo decodes things, Vinny is a demolition expert, Mole digs, and Audrey repairs things. An icon of the directional pad will indicate when an action can be performed, but only if the character that can perform it is being played. To succeed, players will need to judge when and where to use each character in the level. Hazards and enemies begin presenting themselves in the second level, with each level containing certain types of dangers. Some items found within each level aid in the characters' defense against enemies. Boomerangs, grenades, and flare guns are the weapons of choice, depending on the characters, and help them overcome spiders, wasps, birds, crabs, and a myriad of other enemies. Other items that assist characters are life-giving crystals and health-boosting medi-kits, which aid in recovery from hazards like spike pits, boiling steam, and electricity. Princess Kida is played less often than the other characters, but she can swim better than the others and has the ability to double jump. She and her father both make brief appearances, along with the nasty duo, Commander Rourke and Helga Sinclair. Successfully completing all levels and discovering Atlantis will finish the game.
