Seeking to inject a pop alternative into a rock-heavy genre, PopStar Guitar is a rhythm-based music sim that lets players jam just as hard as they would in Guitar Hero or Rock Band, but to tunes with a softer edge. Gamers can engage in both a single-player Career or Co-op Career mode, growing from a garage band to a worldwide phenomenon as they travel to 25 unique venues and perform more than 50 pop songs from artists such as 3 Doors Down, Simple Plan, Miley Cyrus, Maroon 5, and Rihanna. Gamers can choose from a dozen playable characters, and each character can be customized during the run up to the worldwide "Battle of the Bands" contest. Those looking for a less intense experience can also play a number of single- and multiplayer mini-games. The Wii version of PopStar Guitar comes with the special "AirG" peripheral that snaps onto a Wii Remote and is designed to give players an authentic air guitar feel.
