Description

Astro Invaders is a fast-paced space shooter reminiscent of arcade classics such as Gradius, R-Type, and especially Asteroids and its sequels. Players control a small ship that can move in any direction around the screen, which fills with enemy fighters, giant bosses, and lots of space debris. The goal is to score points by blowing away as many enemies as possible while avoiding their slow-moving shots, as well as the asteroids, mines, and destroyed ship parts that drift slowly across the playfield. Play is in 2D, while high-resolution background images give a sense of depth. The game's story is set in the year 3187, as players join a heroic battle against evil space pirates who have seized control of the solar system.
