Description
Milo's Astro Lanes is a futuristic bowling title with three modes of play, six oddball characters, and five themed lanes with multiple variations. The action is viewed from a third-person perspective behind your selected robot, humanoid, or alien, with the Control Pad used for left and right movement across the lane and the Control Stick used to determine the shot's strength and the amount of spin or hook. In keeping with the intergalactic theme, the lanes are decidedly nontraditional in appearance, with environmental hazards, jumps, obstacles, and even alien creatures trying to influence the ball's path. To counter each lane's adverse effects, players can acquire up to four "special" throws, such as splitting one ball into three or expanding the ball's size and strength. Each special throw automatically switches to a defensive version during an opponent's turn, offering players the opportunity to counter their rivals. The heart of the game is the league mode, where players attempt to defeat computer-controlled rivals in three distinct tournaments, collecting various trophies and participating in special bonus rounds along the way. Up to four players can challenge each other in the versus mode, while a practice mode lets rookie bowlers test each wacky course before they enter a tournament setting.
