International Track & Field (Nintendo Game Boy Color, 1999)

Description
The Olympics have always had a special aura around them. Not even the gaming world can avoid taking notice, and so whenever the Olympics roll around, new track and field games emerge as well. Konami has been on the forefront of this genre, with their original Track & Field game being released in 1983. International Track & Field maintains this tradition by playing host to ten different events that involve the classic "rapid button-pressing to win" play formula. Players can select from the following events in their effort to become champions: 100m Dash, 400m Race, Shot Put, Long Jump, High Jump, 110m Hurdles, Discus Throw, Pole Vault, Javelin Throw and the 1500m Race. Besides the individual events, Konami has also added in a Story Mode that lets you build up your own decathlete from his senior year in college and onward. As you propel your character through the college rankings, you'll allocate points to create an athlete with characteristics up to your track and field ideal. The Hyper Mode will put you into the thick of the hunt for the gold. Prepare to pound on the Game Boy's slender frame with either your custom character or one of the default athletes as you pursue your top medal dreams. International Track & Field supports the Game Boy Color's enhanced color mode, as well as still being playable on the older monochrome models of the Game Boy. Aspiring Olympic champions will be able to face off head to head via the Link Cable.
