Final Fantasy Legend (Nintendo Game Boy, 1990)

Product Specs
Description
Players are treated to an unusual kind of Final Fantasy adventure in this release for the small screens of Nintendo's original Game Boy. One of the very first role-playing releases for the popular monochrome handheld, the game was originally developed in Japan under the name Makai Toushi SaGa and released as part of the SaGa series there. Square instead released the cartridge as a founding title of the Final Fantasy series in the U.S. The game's story is tied to the Focus Tower, an ancient, imposing structure located close to the heroes' hometown. While the tower's presence and purpose remain mysterious, it is said to hold both great danger and immense wealth. Players guide a band of adventurers to explore the tower, facing many battles. The game's three character types develop through different means as they fight threatening enemies and reap the spoils of victory. Magic books and even weapons can wear out, offering only a limited number of shots and disappearing if they are used up.
