Description
In the year 2123, humans have finally abused and overpopulated the planet to the point that it is no longer suitable to live. To counteract this problem, the governments of the world have sent three investigative spacecraft out to find a new home for Earth's citizens. The Amazon, a ship exploring the moons of Jupiter and Saturn, suddenly disappears, but a distress signal has been sent to Earth, suggesting that the ship ran into hostile elements. It is up to the player to head to the Amazon's last-known location and try and figure out what happened to the ship and her crew. Creature Shock: Special Edition is an action-adventure game with a science-fiction plotline. There are two different play modes contained within the game: the first is an on-rails shooter where players control a starcraft being heavily attacked by alien enemies. The second finds players on foot inside the Amazon. This portion of the game is the largest, and although the view is first-person, it is also on rails, meaning you have minimum control over mobility, only choosing which direction you will step. There are numerous species that you must blast through as you go deeper into the metal carcass, and many of them have specific weak points you must find and exploit if you expect to survive. You fire your weapon by means of a crosshair that can be moved around to target specific areas. The PlayStation and Saturn versions of Creature Shock are called "special editions" because of purportedly improved graphics and sound over the PC version.
