Tweety & the Magic Gems (Nintendo Game Boy Advance, 2001)
Product Specs
Description
Released alongside the Game Boy Advance system at launch, Tweety & the Magic Gems is a multiplayer party title starring a handful of famous Warner Bros. cartoon characters. While ambling through a forest, or so the story goes, Tweety happens upon a non-descript treasure chest and opens it. In doing so, Tweety inadvertently unleashes an evil magic that begins to turn the hapless creature into stone. As either Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Yosemite Sam, Sylvester, Marc Anthony, or Porky Pig, players must compete against up to three other characters (computer or human controlled) while searching the globe for five gems, that, when brought together will reverse the curse placed upon Tweety. A map of the world serves as the title's primary "game board," around which players must move in search of the aforementioned gems. Happening upon cities and countries around the world will take players into a sub-board in search of the gems. Movement is controlled by drawing cards from a deck, and then moving the indicated number of spaces. Landing on a red square will initiate one of 16 different mini-games ranging from random guessing games to button-smashing events that require players to destroy walls, compete for treasure at the bottom of the ocean, climb palm trees, or smack monstrosities that pop in and out of a collection of holes. The winner of these events is rewarded with Character Points that can be used to purchase item cards at shops situated around the game board. When used, these cards can aid your movement or hinder opponents by putting them to sleep. Random events will also occur that can prove advantageous (or not) for the player. Four players can participate provided that each has a copy of the game.
