Turrican (Nintendo Game Boy, 1991)

Product Specs
Description
Alterra was once inhabited by human colonists. It was a completely human engineered "lifeworld" in a distant galaxy. Alterra contains four individual colonies, each with an ecosystem individually bio-engineered by a powerful network known as the Multiple Organism Unit Link, or MORGUL. But a great quake disrupted MORGUL's functioning, making it rebel murderously against the colonists. Few colonists were lucky enough to escape with their lives. For generations, mankind has wanted to return to Alterra. Now there may be a way. Turrican, a bio-engineered warrior, has been sent to Alterra to clear it out and make it inhabitable again. Turrican is a 2D platform shooting game similar to Metroid. Turrican can jump, shoot, and curl up and roll around in a buzz-saw ball. Turrican has a variety of weapons at his disposal, and can pick up many power-up types that will increase his weapon abilities, restores some health, or protect him from attack. Players must guide Turrican through the game's four multi-level colony stages clearing out the enemies, eventually culminating in a showdown with the insane AI known as MORGUL. Turrican has a life bar that depletes every time he's hit by an enemy; if the life bar is completely drained, Turrican will lose a life.
