Description
Triple Play Gold Edition is the sequel to 1995's Triple Play 96. the first game in a planned series based on the Triple Play name. The game features the same batter interface as its predecessor, meaning players swing from a perspective just behind the batter as he faces the mound. Pitching is accomplished by first choosing a pitch with the directional pad and then aiming it over the plate. Once the ball is put into play, the camera will switch to a three-quarter perspective with a cursor highlighting where the ball will land. To make the play, switch control of the nearest fielder and run toward the cursor, which gradually shrinks in size as the ball comes closer to the ground. The Gold Edition features an all-new Pro Mode in an effort on the part of the developers to offer a more challenging computer opponent. The 1996 Opening Day Rosters have been added as well, with player statistics based on the 1995 season. Returning to the lineup are an MLBPA license that includes over 700 players, injuries, trades, 28 real stadiums, an All-Star Game based on player performances, and season statistics saved to battery. The game also supports the 4 Way Play adapter for up to four players.
