For a repetitive, standard-in-most-respects space shooter, Astro Warrior, is a very enjoyable game. Power-ups, which are absolutely crucial to your success, are available via cargo ships that fly down the center of the vertically scrolling screen. Weapon upgrades include triple shots, lasers and, most impressively, orbs that circle your ship and fire the same weapons. The action is fast paced, and the wide assortment of creatively drawn enemies attack in varying patterns. Interestingly, in addition to firing at standard enemies and end-of-level bosses, players must also damage large ships flying overhead.
