The third gridiron cartridge for the Master System, Walter Payton Football is a mildly enjoyable (though awful-sounding) game with three offensive formations, 14 offensive plays, and seven defensive plays. There are no fumbles and the controls are overly simplistic -- for example, you cannot switch control between defenders. The action is viewed from overhead with some very nice looking close-ups occurring during kicks and after first downs, touchdowns and interceptions. Computer AI is less than impressive, but it rarely gives up big plays since its players are fast.
