A disappointing departure from the more complex, more engaging Zillion, Zillion II: The Tri Formation is a decent game, but it doesn't live up to its predecessor. Unlike the original, this game has side-scrolling shooting rounds (every other level) in which players ride (and sometimes fly) a futuristic motorcycle. The other levels involving running and jumping on platforms, riding elevators, infiltrating rooms and shooting enemies. Power-ups are available for upgrading your laser gun. In addition to being inferior to the original game, Zillion II has busy background graphics that sometimes confuse the action.
