GOLF Magazine Presents 36 Great Holes Starring Fred Couples brings 36 authentic holes (complete with hills, valleys, water traps and other obstacles) from 27 premier courses around the United States (including Disney's Eagle Pines and Tidewater Golf Club). The holes can be played in any combination, and up to eight players can participate in the following game modes: Stroke Play, Tournament, Skins, Shoot-Out, Scramble, Practice and Match-Play. Twenty-four digitized, nicely animated golfers (male and female) can be created with their statistics (in 16 categories) saved via battery backup. The 24MB cartridge has good controls, using a horizontal swing meter to determine each shot's power and accuracy, and the fast-paced golfing action offers three types of club heads (wood, metal and graphite) as well as three different shafts (steel, titanium and graphite). Fred Couples is not only available to play, but he'll also comment on your shots. Due to a limited viewpoint and less than perfect graphics, it is sometimes difficult to gauge where it is safe it hit the ball, but this game is otherwise better than par for the course.
