Inspired by the March 2007 CGI film, TMNT on DS takes the fearsome foursome through a series of acrobatic battles amidst the dark and gritty streets, sewers, subways, and rooftops of New York City. As in many action titles on the platform, the 3D fights are displayed on the top screen with a touch-screen interface appearing on the bottom. Players can choose which path a turtle will travel or jump to, for example, by quickly tapping the stylus once they approach a scalable rooftop, flagpole, or ledge. Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo must confront enemies new and old, including the Foot Clan, the Purple Dragon Street Gang, and monstrous creatures loyal to the film's antagonist, Max Winters, to save mankind.
