Description
The third Yu-Gi-Oh! title to appear on the GBA in the U.S., Yu-Gi-Oh! Worldwide Edition: Stairway to the Destined Duel offers seasoned veterans of the series updated rules and more than 1,000 cards. Like its predecessors, this iteration thrusts players into a series of battles, this time under the guise of the Battle City Tournament. As an anonymous duelist, players begin the title by selecting a deck from the three offered (Red, Green, and Black), before setting out to stake their claim as the best Duelist in the world. Like Yu-Gi-Oh! The Eternal Duelist Soul before it, every significant action taken, be it talking to one of the locals or dueling, advances the calendar by a single day, and particular duelists, events and tournaments will only take place on certain days and only once certain conditions have been met. With that in mind, players will need to explore the various districts that make up Battle City, in order to seek out rare duelists and more powerful cards. To aid you on your quest, each week your character is rewarded with five new cards, courtesy of a subscription to 'Duelist Weekly.' As an added bonus, every defeated opponent yields a new booster pack for your deck. The Card Import system returns in this iteration, allowing players who own the physical decks to import their cards by inputting the codes printed on each one. In keeping with the global theme of the title, English, Spanish, French, Japanese, German, and Italian are supported languages. Yu-Gi-Oh! Worldwide Edition: Stairway to the Destined Duel also allows players to link-up; doing so facilitates card trades and battles against human opponents. As an added incentive, the game comes packaged with three exclusive limited edition trading cards.
