Planet of the Apes (Nintendo Game Boy Advance, 2001)

Product Specs
Description
Based around the events depicted in the original Planet of the Apes series of movies (1968-1973), this GBA incarnation has players assuming the role of Ben, a human who is lost on a planet populated by intelligent apes. Borrowing ideas from such titles as Prince of Persia and Out of This World, the game has players jumping and clambering across gaps and spike pits through ten levels of dense jungle regions and simplistic ape cities. Indigenous wildlife and apes wielding clubs and machine guns are the biggest threat to the player. A rudimentary knife initially acts as the primary means of offense, but soon gives way to a pistol and eventually a shotgun. Strewn about each level are ten flags that must be collected en route to the end. Still-picture cut-scenes move the plot along and appear at critical junctures throughout. A password save feature allows players to resume their progress at a later time.
