Description
Konami continues its distinct partnership with Disney for a third release in the youth-oriented sports series on GameCube. Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy, Big Bad Pete, and a number of other characters lace up their high-tops for a three-on-three game of hoops in one of eight stadiums. Players can perform a variety of over-the-top dunks and special moves while hitting the hardwood, with a special momentum meter filling up with every successful shot attempt. Each character also features different abilities on the court, and up to four players can compete simultaneously on a single screen. Five modes of play include Exhibition, Season, Challenge Cup, All Star Game, and Tutorial. Exhibition supports up to four players in a single game with their choice of teams and stadium. Season mode consists of 14 games (seven home, seven away) against computer-controlled teams. During each season a team's starting lineup or formation can be changed and progress can be saved to memory card. Challenge Cup has players selecting a team and guiding it through three levels of tournament-style competition. Completing the Challenge Cup unlocks the All Star Game, where players assemble their dream team by choosing from any of the available Disney characters in a one-game contest. Tutorial mode is a series of 11 lessons designed to familiarize players with the controls. Options include adjustable quarters from one to eight minutes, and a shot clock that can be set to 12 or 24 seconds. The action differs from traditional basketball games since there are no fouls or free throws. Players build a team's momentum meter by scoring, and once it's filled, each basket is worth an additional point. Characters can also perform moves like crossover dribbles or high-flying dunks using a trick power meter.
