Description
Dragon Ball Z: Legendary Super Warriors combines card collecting with adventure, as players must save the universe by fighting several featured characters from the animated television series. The storyline includes elements from episodes ranging from the Saiyan saga to the Cell and Buu stories. Gameplay features three modes: story, battle, and multiplayer, though trading cards in the latter isn't available until players defeat Frieza in the tenth chapter of story mode, and battle mode is only unlocked after completion of the story mode. Two types of collectible cards are available in Legendary Super Warriors: character and ability. Character cards represent fighters available for battle and reflect the characters' current level (up to five levels are attainable), life (health), strength (damage attack ability), Ki (beam attack ability), speed (accuracy and dodging), and experience. The five types of ability cards reflect possible battle actions, including command, damage attack, beam attack, defense, and support. General card attributes show card cost, rarity, and effects. Multiplayer action between two players via link cable offers VS and Trade modes and is available only after completion of the 10th fight in story mode. In VS mode, players arrange decks and characters prior to combat, but additional cards and experience points are not earned. Battles allow up to four positions per character (front, back, ground, or air), and time limits are imposed on entering commands depending on the opposing characters' position. Support cards effect battle by preventing an attack, increasing abilities, lowering opponent abilities, protecting your abilities, or canceling opponent effects.
