Butt-Ugly Martians: B.K.M. Battles (Nintendo Game Boy Advance, 2002)

Description
Based on the Nickelodeon animated series, Butt-Ugly Martians is a side-scrolling shooter starring three alien heroes encased in armored power suits. Their objective is to prevent an invasion led by Emperor Bog and his vile cohorts, who are amassing a robotic army to conquer the galaxy. Players must also be on the lookout for Stoat Muldoon, an intergalactic bounty hunter looking to capture the aliens. The only way to stop his relentless pursuit is to find the Memory Erase Crystal located somewhere within each level. Once the crystal is destroyed, Stoat will fall asleep and players can resume their laser-blasting mission without interruption. In addition to destroying various robots looking to do them harm, players must locate color-coded keys to unlock the appropriate force fields, allowing them to advance to the next area. Power-ups come in the form of increased firepower and armor, score bonuses, invisibility, shields, and energy to the power suit. Players can also switch between the three characters at any time to take advantage of their special traits. Do-Wah is the most powerful, 2T offers the best defense, while B-Bop is the most agile. Martians who have drained their power suit energy by absorbing too many hits will become inactive for the remainder of the level. The side-scrolling action takes place on seven themed worlds, each featuring four stages apiece. Players begin on an Asteroid Base before advancing to Mechtropolis, Aquatica, Magma, Silicon City, Arborea, and the Koo Foo Ship. Various gun turrets are located along the ground and ceiling on each stage, and boss characters make an appearance at the end of each world. Resuming progress involves using passwords available on each level. As a bonus for those owning Butt-Ugly Martians: Zoom or Doom! for GameCube, B.K.M. Battles offers five crystals that will unlock additional GameCube characters and levels via the GameCube-Game Boy Advance cable.
