Top Gear Pocket 2 (Nintendo Game Boy Color, 1999)

Product Specs
Description
Top Gear Pocket 2 is a rally-style racing game for the Game Boy Color. Players can choose to play a Single Race against CPU cars, a Timed Race, or participate in a Career Mode racing through a variety of tracks spanning several seasons. Players can drive a variety of cars, each being rated in top speed, acceleration, handling and braking. These cars can be driven in either manual or automatic mode. The game's Career Mode is its centerpiece. Starting with a specific number of points, players can purchase one of several cars to compete in the first season. Each season has four races, giving players a chance to earn more points, which can then be used to upgrade cars before each race or saved to buy the more powerful cars available at the start of each season. Players start each race at the back of the pack. The closest CPU controlled car is just out of sight, and the leader car may be halfway around the track. During the three laps in each race, players must chase down all the CPU cars and pull ahead of them, coming into first place before the race ends. When players go off course, their cars suffer a reduction in speed from the rough surface. Cars also lose speed if they collide or grind with another car, but vehicles in Top Gear Pocket 2 cannot flip out.
